Sorry about yesterday, I didn't think about blogging until late. Mike yelled at me about it, so I guess we're good :-p
We made toilet paper tube bracelets. They were so simple and a lot of fun. All I did was take about a 1/2 inch slice of tubing out straight down the center, then i cut each roll into 6 bracelets. The girls then chose 3 colors of paint and painted their bracelets. Once they were dry, we decorated them with beads/googly eyes/gems etc. Whatever they wanted out of the craft box was fair game.
here is what we ended up with, they are really cute.
Today, we brought back an old bath craft. Remember the one we did a few months ago where the kids got to use the foam and decorate the bathtub with it? Well, I brought that one back, mainly because we were sooo strapped for time. We were out of the house ALL day, and got home in time for the girls to eat a few bites of a grilled cheese and get to bath. It had been awhile, and I knew that they had fun last time. This time though, their designs were so much more cohesive. They needed no direction or instructions and they had a lot of fun. I was proud of them!
Call it cheating, but hey, at the Greenhouse today, they did chalk, they flew kites, played with bubbles, today was full of all sorts of different enrichment so I was ok with bringing back an old craft.

Day 126: Glitter Fish
What a day! I left the house @ 7:30 this morning, and FINALLY got home around 4.. then it was dinner, bath, and bed.. but between getting home and making dinner, I had to squeeze in craft. I thought about some fun things we have done, and I know that the girls have really enjoyed playing with foam and sequin so I pulled out a bunch of sequin and cut some fish shapes out of glittery foam. Then I handed the girls glue and a cup of decorations and told them to have at it.
I was shocked at how little Iris added to her fish, but she did a very good job making a fish that looks like a fish... Then there is Penny haha. I love seeing how her imagination works. I really enjoyed seeing her so focused today, using the glue completely by herself, and keeping it on her fish even!

Day 121: Extreme Crafting... After Bedtime!
So, we were crazy this morning, we got up late, because the kids didn't go to bed until late, then we spent the morning cleaning the house and packing to go to Charleston for the weekend. I had a dentists appointment at 11:00 so was out of the house from 10:30-12:30 and we still managed to get on the road at 1:15. But, we had three stops, and didn't get here until 5:45. We had dinner, then the girls went straight up to bed. We finally came downstairs about 7:30 and I looked at my MIL/FIL/Mike and went "omg! CRAFT!!!!!"
Well, thanks to am amazing MIL, we were able to pull a craft from the basement, I substituted the necessary glue with Scotch Tape, because i had no intentions of them leaving their room and was not about to bring glue to a carpeted room with a 3 and 4 year old. I mean, I know I may look crazy, but i am not that crazy!
Iris really did an awesome job with her snail. I love the placement of everything, it looks almost exactly like the picture of it did, and she didn't get any help, and I don't know that she even saw the picture first.
Penny's frog however... well, nostrils on the feet says it all :-p

Day 25- Birthday Cakes
Well, We are coming close to the end of Birthday Theme week. Tomorrow, we won't be doing a birthday craft, we will be at the Children's Museum in Pittsburgh, BUT they have an amazing craft room. I am really looking forward to going in there with the girls being a year older. They LOVE the museum and I have been anticipating this day since I decided to do "Craft Year". There are SO many crafts there that we are going to have a blast. I can promise, MANY pictures tomorrow. I will have a hard time picking which to use, I am sure!
So, back to today. I wanted to make foam cupcakes, but Iris informed me "We already did cupcakes this week!" so, we made foam birthday cakes.
Supplies:
1) craft foam
2) glue
Can't be much easier than that, right?
I know that the girls are so into Princesses right now, that I bought blue foam, pink and white glitter foam, and princess themed stickers. How much more princess could we get???? Ok, well, I guess I could have gotten purple foam instead of blue haha. But, It worked better to use the blue foam because the princess themed stuff would have been really hard to see on top of purple "cake".
I simply cut a piece of foam in half, then made icing out of the white glitter foam. And let the girls go. They both practiced using Elmer's glue today, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well Penny did. Iris was a little heavy handed and had a lot of glops of glue. When I give Penny a blank canvas, she has a blast, as you can see, she still loves to "color" and "marker." At a certain point, I just say "go for it kid" and let her be.
Iris really enjoyed putting stickers on her cake. She wanted to cover the ENTIRE thing in stickers, but I finally, after a LOT of convincing, talked her into leaving it like it is because it would be too hard see what she put on it if she covered it ALL in stickers. I love the top of it, she insists that it is "Santa" it isn't "santa's house" or "the north pole" it is "Santa" :) I love my kiddos so much!
On a side note, I picked up Iris' birthday cake tonight, and OMG! I hope that we have an ARMY coming to her birthday because this cake weighs about 25 pounds!!!!! Tomorrow's blog will be late because we have a CRAZY day planned!
