Sorry about yesterday, I didn't think about blogging until late. Mike yelled at me about it, so I guess we're good :-p
We made toilet paper tube bracelets. They were so simple and a lot of fun. All I did was take about a 1/2 inch slice of tubing out straight down the center, then i cut each roll into 6 bracelets. The girls then chose 3 colors of paint and painted their bracelets. Once they were dry, we decorated them with beads/googly eyes/gems etc. Whatever they wanted out of the craft box was fair game.
here is what we ended up with, they are really cute.
Today, we brought back an old bath craft. Remember the one we did a few months ago where the kids got to use the foam and decorate the bathtub with it? Well, I brought that one back, mainly because we were sooo strapped for time. We were out of the house ALL day, and got home in time for the girls to eat a few bites of a grilled cheese and get to bath. It had been awhile, and I knew that they had fun last time. This time though, their designs were so much more cohesive. They needed no direction or instructions and they had a lot of fun. I was proud of them!
Call it cheating, but hey, at the Greenhouse today, they did chalk, they flew kites, played with bubbles, today was full of all sorts of different enrichment so I was ok with bringing back an old craft.

Days 115/116
Sorry for the combined post with NO pictures! Yesterday was one of the longest nights i can remember having! I ended up driving around for over 3 hours to find a booster seat for Penny for her birthday. I was so tired by the time I got home at 9:55, that I just didn't have it in me to blog!... the lack of pictures will be explained soon enough!
Lets start with Day 116:
Remember those beads I made last week? The ones out of the crayola model magic? Well, they turned out perfectly, so we made bracelets yesterday. I let the kids use buttons, and beads, and the homemade beads. They sat at the table so nicely, stringing beads onto their craft thread, and they both turned out very nicely.
Iris was so proud of hers, that she wanted to take it to school today to show her teacher. I allowed her to take it into the van, but made her leave it there, so that it wouldn't get lost. Well, Penny found it and tore all the homemade beads into little shreds before I realized it. I was so sad for Iris. I cleaned up all the traces, and I hope that she just forgets about it, because I know that she will be upset if she finds out Penny broke it. :(
Day 117:
Today, you aren't getting pictures because Iris went CRAZY with glitter glue and every time i touch her craft, i get glitter glue all over me. So I am going to let it dry first.. like maybe next week :-p
We made Doc McStuffins, Big Books of Boo-Boos today for craft. It was a lot of fun. They are REALLY into Doc McStuffins right now, and I've caught them both "writing" in their "big book of boo-boos" and I saw them at Toys R Us today for $7. I thought that was a little ridiculously, so we came home and made our own.
We used foam for the front and back covers (about 6"x6"), and construction paper cut to the same size, for the pages. I used a hole punch to poke holes in the covers and the pages so that once they are done, I can string them together and the kids can have a working book.
I put the "Big Book Of Boo-Boos" letters on the back, but they each got to pick their own inside paper color, as well as decorate the front cover. Again, Iris went OVERBOARD on the glitter glue, i don't know if it will EVER dry at this point :/ Hopefully, pictures will be added to this one before too long!

Day 17- Snowmen!
I have to give a little shout out to the Admissions Director @ Spring Garden Waldorf School. Penny and I were sitting in her office today and I happened to ask her what she wanted to do for craft today and Penny said "snowman!" So I started thinking about how to make one- we did a cotton ball snowman last month- and Amy mentioned "a sock snow man." Well, that would be about the easiest thing EVER. Honestly, how many mismatched socks are in this house? I had batting with my sewing stuff, and everything else was in my craft supplies.
Here is our supply list for today:
1) Mike's white socks
2) scraps of fleece
3) googly eyes
4) hot glue
5) buttons
6) needle and thread
7) batting
8) tiny wooden stars and an orange marker
9) black marker
I gave each kid a huge pile of batting and told them to fill the sock up. They filled the socks to up to the ankle. I took them and turned the ankle to the inside and stitched them up.
Afterward, on Iris' snowman, I made three body parts by loosely sewing a circle around the sock and pulling it tight. I gave each girl a star and had them color it orange with a marker, then cut one of the tips off to make the nose, I glued the googly eyes on, had them tie a scarf around the necks, and pick out buttons. I then hot glued all the pieces on to the snowmen with hot glue.
The girls loved the finished project. Penny kept calling it her "baby" and they took them for a "walk" how flipping cute???
