So call this a cop out of you want to, but I have been itching to do this with craft since the beginning of the year. My biggest problem has been that I haven't been able to find a way to make glow sticks in the bathtub a craft. Well today I decided that we were simply going finger paint by glow stick.
Well that led to a problem, we have a window in our bathroom, in the tub, and the sun sets outside the bathroom window. So bath time is the time of day that the sun is the absolute brightest in the bathroom. It took 2 attempts at covering the window but I finally found a large brown blanket that i hung from the curtain rod and tapped down to the wall with masking tape, that darkened the room enough.
I don't really know that the finger paint ended up being nearly as exciting as the glow sticks. Even Coraline enjoyed them, this was really the first time she had been able to be involved in a craft.
Sorry, no pics tonight but as a rule of thumb we try keeping the kids pics off the blog and in a bath craft it is hard to take a pic and not have a kid in it. Overall though, bath time was a huge hit!

Day 141: Bath Watercolors
Well, I was totally prepared to call today a total and utter failure. Iris wanted to do the exact same craft as yesterday for craft today, so I compromised and decided to take our water colors to the bath. Well, as soon as we started, nothing showed up on the tub. I was getting really bummed, but then I realized that if we used our fingers, the colors were much darker and covered better. Unfortunately, we didn't get pictures because they were just wet streaks running down the tub by the time the girls were done.
Though, at the end, it did turn into body paint, and at one point, I had three of the cutest bunny rabbits ever in the tub.
Sorry there isn't much to say about this one....

Day 125: Bath Craft
UGH!!!! @#$%^*&!(!! Yup, that sums up the first craft attempt today. We were going to make rainbow popcorn. I even took the girls to the store to get butter since we ran out. We got home, I started making dinner and could tell i was loosing the girls. So I told them to both sit down. I get the oil started on the stove, pour the popcorn in and all of a sudden Penny is FLIPPING, i mean, blood curdling, screaming, crying, in pain sort of melt down. Well, there went the popcorn! It only half popped and burnt :-/ Well, there went craft for today because that was the last of the popcorn!
After dinner, once Mike got home, we rushed them up to bed, because the meltdowns were continuing. But, since I hadn't planned on anything else for craft, I was racking my brain trying to figure out a craft, and it came to me. Body Paint! GLITTER body paint! And do you want to talk about easy and fun... GLITTER BODY PAINT! 2 simple ingredients: Aloe and GLITTER!

Day 112: Homemade Bath Paints
A 70* day after a bitterly cold weekend, we'll take it! That also means that we were outside for over 4 hours today, so I am exhausted. I don't think the kids were that tired, but are kids ever??? I came across a homemade bath paints idea a few months ago, and I thought "that would be fun to try" but bath is usually too late, the kids are too tired, and I'm too frazzled to think, so I've put it on the back burner.. until now.
Tonight, I looked up the bath paint "recipe" online and came across a few different ones. The most common is to use clear/unscented baby body wash, cornstarch, and food color. Another blog i found said baby body wash, corn starch and kool-aid. A third blog said to use shaving cream and food coloring. Now, I must admit, I was scared about the food coloring and shaving cream idea after the marbled eggs left my hands rainbow colored for three days last month. But, I still had shaving cream, so I combined two ideas. Shaving cream and kool-aid. I did do 1 cup with 1 drop of blue food coloring, and it was the prettiest of the colors. But, the kool-aid smelled delicious while they were playing :-p
The girls loved the bath paint. The water was purple by the time they were done, they did more smear it on and erase it than they did painting, but Penny was truly disappointed when we said that paint time was over with. All things considered, I'd call this a success!
